Guild Types

Post  Admin on Sat Aug 29, 2009 3:52 pm

Within WoW there are several different types of guilds. We want to clear up what those are. So let me explain by starting with our guild:

Social:
A social guild is one that hangs out. Talk, make friends, do some things together. Ultimately, especially in <Children of a Fallen God>, a social guild is one that runs by the theory of, "It's your fifteen dollars a month, play it the way you want to play it." So everything is on a at will basis, nothing is madatory. Some basic rules that these guilds rule by include, but are not limited to:
(1) Be social, talk in chat when spoken to - if possible.
(2) Some are PG in talking rights, some are XXX...this will vary based on family-friendliness.

Role Play:
This type of guild is based around the idea of getting involved in your game, and your character. A lot of social guilds accept this within the guild, but not many of them. A role play guild has a lot of strict rules, much like the servers of the same style, when it comes to naming. Other things that role play guilds are strict about is recruitment, sometimes things like race, class, backstory, even the alts (or alternate toons) you play, and how you play them.

PvP:
A PvP - Player versus Player - guild is one that does a lot of Battlegrounds, Arena, or world PvP. You see these mostly on the PvP or RPPvP servers, and some on the "Normal" servers. These guilds have no strict naming rules, but do have a lot of gear requirements, level requirements, or other various things needed to get in - and stay in - the guild.

Leveling:
A leveling guild is one that has only a few major rules that are common between all of them. First and foremost is the rule that if you aren't helping somebody level, or being helped to level, at the time that somebody else asks then you should do your best to help whoever it is that needs help. Now there are some exceptions to that rule, instances, BGs (Battlegrounds), and possibly another extenuating circumstance or two. But ultimately that is the idea behind a Leveling guild. There are some Raiding or PvP guilds that have a leveling guild as a starter location, where they do the recruiting and get the people where they want them.

Twink:
A twink, first of all, is somebody who reaches a certain level and stays there. They will usually have a main toon at max level funding enchants and gear for the twink. A twink is at the end of a level bracket (i.e.: 28 or 29, and never reaching 30). Sometimes you will see twink guilds standing alone, but normally they are intertwined with a PvP - or sometimes RP - guild.

Raid:
A raiding guild is one that has only one purpose; Big gear and big raids. They will progess through the stages or Heroics, and lower-difficulty raids, all the way up to the end-game content. Their goal is to reach the end of every boss, in every section, of every raid. There are sometimes very difficult looting rules, requiring a lot of time invested in the guild, as well as different styles of points per kill systems. Others are a little more laid back, but still have loot rules based on seniority or general experience.

No matter how you play, there's a guild out there for you. Our guild may currently be on an RP server, but that doesn't mean we RP, we are social by nature, with an "I don't care" attitude. We will sometimes do raids, mostly low-level ones, and we often try to run togehter. But nothing in our guild is mandatory, and the only the way to be kicked out is directly being aggrivative, confrontational, and/or rude to an extent that bothers the guild leaders...or extreme inactivity. All of the afore mentioned types of guilds could be melded in any combination to make any guild into whatever the members and leader want it to be, but these are the most base types of guilds.
